Dr. Cheryl Plouffe provides psychological services to children, adolescents, and adults. She offers assessments, therapy, and consultation, and is based in Ottawa, Ontario.

About

Dr. Cheryl Plouffe is a Clinical and School Psychologist. She completed her Ph.D. in School/Applied Child Psychology at McGill University and has worked in a variety of school and private practice settings.
Dr. Plouffe’s research and scientific publications have examined inquiry-based teaching and learning and giftedness and she has presented at conferences across Canada and North America.
Dr. Plouffe is registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and is also a member of the Ottawa Academy of Psychologists, the Canadian Psychological Association, and the National Association of School Psychologists.
Dr. Plouffe currently works at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board as well. Please note that Dr. Plouffe is unable to see children/adolescents who attend certain schools. The OCDSB offers free of charge psychological services based on needs within the school.

Dr. Plouffe provides services in a warm, and compassionate environment in which to address her clients’ needs. Her services include:
Therapy
Dr. Plouffe’s therapeutic orientation emphasizes cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). Techniques from other orientations are incorporated depending on the nature of the presenting difficulties and may include mindfulness, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), and emotion-focused therapy. Dr. Plouffe supports a wide range of presenting concerns including depression, anxiety, emotion regulation, executive functioning difficulties, anger management, trauma, and others.
Assessment
Dr. Plouffe provides comprehensive psychoeducational assessments for children, adolescents and adults. Assessments often include tests of cognitive abilities, memory, academic abilities, attention and executive functioning, and measures of social, emotional, and behavioural functioning. These assessments provide information to help inform recommendations to support clients at home and at school/work. Various diagnoses may be explored through the course of an assessment such as learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, etc.
Fees
Psychological services are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). Psychological services are tax deductible. Clients with extended health benefits may be eligible for reimbursement.
Fees are $235/hour. Costs of assessments vary depending on the nature of the service required. Please contact Dr. Plouffe for a quote.
